The Lineup
THE COLLECTION · SIX QUILTS
Honeysuckle and Bee
Grand hexagon piecing in bee, honey pot and sunflower prints, framed in charcoal and gold.
The Galactic Odyssey
The Star Trek quilt: a starship at warp, sampler blocks around the hull, and the ship quilted a second time into the back.
The Chromatic Weave
The woven lattice quilt: dozens of colors woven over and under on the diagonal, finished with a single mustard binding.
New England Chronicles
All six states in one panel, wrapped in autumn patchwork and a falling leaves border.
The Yuletide Gathering
The Christmas sampler: trees, gifts, birds and stars arranged around one big center star.
The Sapphire Mosaic
The Charm sampler: sixteen different blocks in one blue, teal and purple palette.
Honeysuckle and Bee
Oversized hexagons carry the prints, bees, honey pots, sunflowers and honeycomb, while the quilting draws flowers across the solid border.
FULL VIEW
- Signature hexagon piecing
Each hexagon is a full print showcase: bees on cream, honey pots on charcoal, sunflowers on black, tiny bees on gold. The scale lets every fabric read from across the room.
- Honeycomb border system
A gold honeycomb strip runs inside the charcoal border on all four sides, tying the field to the frame and repeating the hexagon geometry at a smaller scale.
- Floral long arm quilting
The border is quilted with large stitched flowers in pale gold thread. Up close, the petals and flower centers carry the whole design.
- High contrast palette
Charcoal and deep grey grounds make the golds and creams glow. It is the warmest quilt in the collection and the most graphic.
The Galactic Odyssey
The Star Trek quilt. A starship caught mid warp, streaks radiating out in gold, burgundy and green. Flip it over and the quilting alone redraws the ship, saucer, nacelles and starfield, in plain grey.
FULL VIEW
- Central starship appliqué
The ship sits dead center in white, top down, so the radiating piecing underneath reads as warp streaks pulling away behind it.
- Sampler block orbit
Stars, a delta shield, churn dash and diamond blocks circle the center panel, including a small registry number block on the right side.
- A second quilt on the back
The grey backing is quilted with the same ship, ringed by stars, planets and sweeping curves. Nothing is printed. It is all stitch lines and shadow.
- Galaxy prints in the blocks
Several blocks are cut from nebula and planet prints, so the border carries real deep space color against the navy field.
The Chromatic Weave
The woven lattice quilt. One pattern, repeated until it becomes a textile illusion: diagonal strips that pass over and under each other like a woven basket, in what looks like every color in the fabric stash.
FULL VIEW
- The over under illusion
Every crossing is pieced, not printed. Short white segments break each strip at the intersections, which is what sells the woven effect.
- Full spectrum palette
Teal, coral, mustard, plum, olive, rust, blush and navy share the same grid with no single color in charge. It works because the geometry is strict.
- Mustard binding, all around
One warm yellow frame contains the whole field and picks up the gold strips inside the pattern.
- Floral quilting on the reverse
The blue grey backing is covered edge to edge with stitched flowers and swirls, a completely different texture from the sharp geometry on the front.
New England Chronicles
Home, mapped. A printed panel puts all six states in the middle, each with its bird, icons and nickname, and the borders dress it for fall: patchwork squares, scenic prints and a deep leaf covered outer frame.
FULL VIEW
- Six states, one panel
Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire each get their outline, state bird and landmarks, from lighthouses to a Maine moose.
- Layered border system
A scenic forest print frames the panel first, then a ring of autumn patchwork squares, then the wide outer border of leaves on near black. Three frames, three scales.
- Word prints in the patchwork
Some border squares are cut from text prints naming the region and its states, a quiet detail that only shows up close.
- Moose on the back
The backing is a single brown print of running moose in orange, sage, cream and blue. From a distance it reads as pattern. Up close it is a whole herd.
The Yuletide Gathering
The Christmas sampler. The biggest production in the collection. A large red and green star anchors the center while trees, wrapped gifts, birds, pinwheels and small stars rotate around it in a strict, symmetrical layout.
FULL VIEW
- One big center star
The middle block scales the sampler up: a red swirl print star center with green points, big enough to organize everything around it.
- A full holiday cast
Pieced Christmas trees, ribbon tied gifts, songbirds, a Dresden plate wreath and rows of tiny trees along the bottom edge. Count the block types, there are more than a dozen.
- Mirrored layout
Blocks repeat left to right and top to bottom in near perfect symmetry, which is what makes a busy sampler feel calm instead of crowded.
- Quiet back, red gingham edge
The reverse is cream with tiny green trees and swirling quilting, finished with the same red gingham style binding as the front.
The Sapphire Mosaic
The Charm sampler. Sixteen blocks, sixteen different constructions, one disciplined palette of blues, teals and purples. It is the collection's skills inventory, finished as a block of the month sampler in 2023.
FULL VIEW
- Sixteen blocks, no repeats
Pinwheels, stars, houses, a plus block, an Ohio star style block and more, each one a different piecing exercise in the same colors.
- Two hearts, hidden in plain sight
A pieced heart sits in the top row, and a smaller rounded heart anchors the bottom row. A butterfly appliqué hides in the center of the sunflower style block on the right.
- Checkerboard border
The blocks are framed by a border of small squares in the same blues and purples, finished with a purple binding.
- Label on the back
The blue batik style backing carries the quilt's label in the corner, dated 2023. Provenance, stitched in.
Anatomy of a Quilt
SYSTEM DIAGRAM · THREE LAYERS, ONE FINISHThe Pieced Top
The visible design. Individual fabrics are cut and sewn into blocks, hexagons, lattices or appliqué, then joined into a single sheet. Every quilt in this portfolio starts with its top.
The Batting
The hidden loft layer that gives a quilt its warmth and weight, and gives the quilting stitches something to sink into. It is why the stitch lines cast tiny shadows in the close up views of each quilt.
The Backing
A full fabric sheet behind everything. In this collection the backs are part of the work: a quilted starship, a moose print, tiny Christmas trees, stitched flowers.
Prints and solids chosen as a palette.
Pieces measured and cut to pattern.
Blocks sewn and joined into the top.
All three layers stitched through together.
Edges finished with a binding strip.
About Quilt All Day
A digital portfolio of quilts, and the work behind them.
Quilt All Day is a digital portfolio of quilts, created to showcase the hard work that goes into making each one. A finished quilt can look effortless. It is anything but: fabrics are chosen and cut piece by piece, blocks are sewn and joined into a top, three layers are stitched through together, and every edge is finished with care. There are hours of patience in every seam.
The collection keeps growing. New quilts will be added as they are finished, each one shown in detail so the piecing, the quilting, and the finishing can be appreciated up close.
